In order to augment capacity of medical postgraduates, Department of Health Research (DHR), MoFHW, Govt. of India, and National Medical Commission (NMC), Dwarka, New Delhi convened series of consultative meetings with experts faculties to identify proposed dissertation topics which are simple, feasible, novel and have potential to improve day to day care of the patients or advance public health practices or improve understanding of Medical Sciences in general.
ICMR-DHR/NMC will not do any micro-monitoring of progress of thesis topics, however, there are sections in medshodhganga to add thesis outcomes, conference proceedings, publications etc that scholars may have during conduct of thesis.
Experts across various medical colleges in India not only participated in this activity by providing dissertation topics but also in refinement and compilation of these topics. Medical shodghanga is likely to add new topics e very year to avoid repeated consumption of same topics every year.
More than one postgraduate can choose a particular topic for their dissertation and can decide upon sample size as per available resources in their medical colleges. Accurate effect size estimation in experimental studies or prevalence or incidence odds ratio as a standard effect measure can help generate pooled data for analysis of larger sample size. This could potentially contribute towards clinical and public health practices for India.
This platform ‘Medical Shodhganga’ provides access to these topics, for voluntary uptake for postgraduates and faculties alike as per their areas of interest.
Postgraduate students can register, create their log in Ids & Password, register their thesis topics after search of repository. They can also, add their abstracts, publications and thesis outcomes etc at the end of their thesis period.
